Robert Wise, Dead at 91

Robert Wise, the editor of the masterpeice, "Citizen Kane" and the director of such memorable films as "The Sound of Music," "West Side Story," "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and, of course, "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" has died of heart failure. He was 91.

Hey Brandon!
Finally I have a chance to post a comment and couldn't resist this one.
First of all, West Side Story would definately be among the DVDs on that desert island you spoke of a few blogs back, (as well as the LOTR trilogy and Braveheart!)
Also, a quick story... Martin and I went with my son Scott and our friend Brenda to the Hollywood Bowl a few years back to hear a concert of sci fi film music. Of course they played Star Trek the Motion Picture, blaster beam and all and at the end, Maestro John Mauceri introduced Robert Wise who was sitting in the audience. Of course he got a standing O!
Then as we were leaving, I kept my eyes open as we were heading out toward the same exit. Then I saw Mr. Wise and almost knocked Marty over to get to him to ask for an autograph! He was sweet enough to grant me one and afterwards my friend laughed saying that I looked like I was running after the Beatles!! :-) I said "Hey!!! That was THE ROBERT WISE!!!!!"
