I don't know much about politics and choosing supreme court justices but it seems to me that the most appropriate response of the media and congress to Bush's nomination of Miers would have been uproarious laughter. That followed by, "That was a good one, Mr. President, now who are you really going to nominate." After who seemed to be such a stellar nominee and now CHIEF Supreme Court Justice in John Roberts, Bush then nominates a person who has never even been a judge... c'mon.

bREAKING NEWS! Harriet Miers has withdrawn her nomination to be a Supreme Court justice mere moments ago in the face of stiff opposition and mounting criticism about her qualifications.
Now comes the time that they nominate their real candidate (that they had in mind all along) and everybody is so happy to see a qualified person nominated that they don't even care what his or her politics are? Just a thought. Kinda like when you tell your mom you recked the car before you give her your report card. Maybe?
